A business-savvy IP litigator and trial attorney.

Jayson marshals nearly two decades of legal experience as a business-savvy IP litigator and trial attorney.  He focuses his practice on high stakes patent, trade secret, copyright, and other technology-related commercial disputes before courts, arbitrators, and regulatory agencies.  His experience includes sixteen years of litigating IP disputes at Morrison & Foerster and Paul Weiss.  He also spent over two years as a Satellite Policy Director for SpaceX, where he married his litigation savvy and his technical chops to navigate the complex and contentious spectrum regulatory and coordination challenges facing SpaceX’s cutting-edge Starlink business.

Jayson’s approach to litigation and legal service is client-focused, based on gaining a deep understanding of his clients’ businesses and technologies.  He knows how to strategize about the end game and its best outcome — whether trial verdict, order, or settlement — from Day One.  Beyond the legal and regulatory issues raised by any matter, he finds that gaining a deep understanding of his clients’ legal and business goals is key to developing and executing winning strategies.

Jayson’s matters have spanned a wide variety of technologies in the fields of telecommunications, electronics, optics, semiconductors, software, life sciences, and chemistry.

Jayson earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.A. in History, magna cum laude, from Brown University.  He then completed a Ph.D. in Applied Physics at the University of Michigan.  Before law school, he applied his experience as an engineer and scientist to develop innovative technology related to optical communications and quantum cryptography at MagiQ Technologies, Inc., and The MITRE Corporation.

Jayson earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan, magna cum laude, where was an editor of the Michigan Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif.  He is admitted to practice in the State of New York, numerous federal courts, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
